WELCOME TO PLUEN ARIAN'S ETSY SHOP!
Featuring hand-calligraphied Welsh and English Language Cards and Beautiful Vintage Findings with a special focus on tea and coffee china (at the moment).
ABOUT ME:
Pluen Arian is Welsh meaning "Silver Plume." My name is Ann, and I love the art of calligraphy, and I love crochet (I'm also known as "TheHappyCrocheter" here on Etsy). I love making, filling my home with, and just plain looking at, beautiful things! For more about me and my shop, see my "About" page.
MY CALLIGRAPHY CARDS:
Each of my calligraphy cards is individually hand-lettered - no reproductions or copies. And I use gouache paint and calligraphic nibs, not a fountain pen.
MY VINTAGE FINDINGS:
Many of the vintage items that I sell have been loved and used, not only displayed. There will be signs of age and use, and that is part of the history and beauty of each piece. For my vintage items, I have developed my own little system of grading to help give customers a better idea of each piece's condition. Please note: I don't sell anything that has serious flaws such as cracks or chips, and any marks that I cannot remove are noted in the listing.
Here's my grading system:
"Display Only" - These have never been used, but have only been displayed. They're like new, except that they have been pre-owned and are at least 20 years old, because they're vintage.
"Great" - Like New, no cracks, chips, or crazing, but may have been used functionally. If they have been used, they show only the tiniest signs of use, if any. You have to look really hard to even find these.
"Good" - No chips or cracks, but shows some signs of use, such as a small loss of gilding. Still looks LOVELY on the table and doesn't draw attention to itself as looking used.
"Fair" - No chips or cracks, but shows definite signs of use and age. The pattern or gilding are fading. When put out on the table, they look nice and serve their purpose, but it's obvious that they are quite old and/or have been well-loved and used.

PAYMENT METHODS:
Paypal & Credit Cards -
No paypal? No problem! Even without a paypal account, you can pay by credit or debit card via paypal. And it's easy! :) When you go to pay, click on the link on the left hand side of the paypal page to pay by credit or debit without an account and then follow the steps. Of course, I accept paypal too!
Cheques & Bank Transfer -
For UK customers, I am happy to accept personal cheques and bank transfers (so long as I can figure out how to do them). I wait for cheques / money to clear before sending items though.
TRADING WITH OTHER SELLERS:
I am open to bartering for items that I need or want. I often shop on Etsy for Christmas gifts. BUT, please don't be offended if I say "no thank you."
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING COSTS:
When it comes to international shipping, It is a bit tricky to put in accurate amounts for postage here on Etsy, because of the way Royal Mail / Parcel Force calculate their rates. (Postage costs become incrementally cheaper up to certain points - 2kg and 5kg - at which point it shoots up dramatically.)
For this reason, the postage costs in the listings apply for orders up to 2kg only. If you would like more than 2kg in weight of china (more than 3 trios approximately), I will need to make a custom listing taking into account actual postage costs for your order. Also, depending on the weight and size, multiple boxes or a courier might be better choices. I will be happy to look into it to get you the best price possible.
SHIPPING OVER-CHARGES:
I do include in my costs some allowance for packing materials, though I try to reuse wherever I can to lower this cost. I always refund for any significant over-charges of postage.

For a small number of items that come in under 2kg together, I box them up safely and send them using Royal Mail Airmail according to the costs in the listing. For larger purchases, I will need to research the best method and price and set up a custom listing.

For already-finished items, these are generally posted out within a business day or two of receiving payment. Calligraphy cards, particularly custom messages, may take as long as one week to prepare for posting.
SHIPPING TIMES:
International orders may take as long as 8 weeks to arrive, but I don't generally expect that long for a card order. Please do bear this possibility in mind though! Any customs or taxes are the responsibility of the customer.
UK:
